How much does a Marriage Celebrant charge?

Marriage Celebrants in Australia set their own fees so the costs vary greatly depending on the celebrant, location and the details of your wedding. You’ll generally need to send a few enquiries to get quotes. Try to include as many details as possible as this will allow the celebrant to give you an accurate quote. If you are looking to save money, think about getting married on an off-peak day. Weekdays and colder months tend to be more affordable than Saturday afternoons in Spring.

What is the style of your ceremonies?

My ceremonies are relaxed, fun and simple. I understand that I’m not the star of the show but rather it’s my job to make you shine. I try to avoid gimmicks and cringy trends but rather focus on performing a modern ceremony that suits you. There will be funny moments, exciting moments and heartfelt moments and with a bit of luck you’ll enjoy all of them equally. I also adapt my style based on you and your crew. If you are looking for something super relaxed then that’s what you’ll get- if you want to lean into a bit of formality we can do that too!

How can we make our ceremony unique?

Try not to stress too much about making your wedding different, your ceremony will be unique without even trying. To make it your own I suggest choosing songs that are special to you, writing your own vows about moments that you have shared and including friends and family in the ceremony. These little things are what make a ceremony unique to you. If any of that sounds hard then don’t worry: I’m here to help!

What paperwork do we need to do to get married?

A good marriage celebrant will do all the paperwork for you. I’ll fill out the Notice of Intended Marriage, Declaration of No Impediment to Marriage and the marriage certificates for you based on information you provide. I’ll make sure everything is signed at the correct times and that everything gets registered with minimal effort on your part. There are some deadlines involved so if your wedding date is rapidly approaching make sure you get in touch with a celebrant as soon as possible.

How does it all work if we want to go ahead?

The first thing we should do is meet up. I like to meet you both in a pub or a cafe for a casual drink. We’ll get to know each other a little bit and chat about what you are after. If it’s all a good match then I’ll shoot you an email with a copy of my ceremony guide and the info I need to get your paperwork going. We’ll then meet up again about 6 weeks before the wedding to sign some papers and plan out your ceremony. After the big day I’ll register the marriage for you and order your marriage certificate. It’s really that simple.

Have you ever been on Married at First Sight?

I was approached to be a MAFS celebrant once. I politely declined. Sorry, mum.
